AIU MSC awarded $1.1 million grant

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit Math & Science Collaborative (AIU MSC) has been awarded a $1.1 million grant from the PA Department of Education to strengthen mathematics and science learning in the region. The competitive grant is part of the Mathematics and Science Partnerships program (MSP) (Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Title II, Part B).

The award represents extensive collaboration between area entities. As the lead agency, AIU MSC partnered with universities, colleges, intermediate units and school districts from western PA to secure this funding. Partners include Carlow University, Clarion University, Saint Vincent College, Robert Morris University, Riverview and Westmoreland intermediate units, and 34 schools. Participating districts from Allegheny County include Clairton, McKeesport, Steel Valley, Sto-Rox and Pittsburgh Public Schools.
