Beaver Area SD fifth- and sixth-graders are learning their American history facts with a dose of humor. In partnership with the Beaver Area Heritage Museum, a group of 14 students have written and directed several videos containing facts about local history, according to an article in the Beaver County Times. Museum historian Val Brkich visited the school and shared some interesting historical accounts. The children then chose facts they found interesting and wrote and performed humorous skits on camera that illustrated them. Jeremy Selepec, a teacher at Dutch Ridge Elementary School, serves as the group’s adviser. He secured a grant from the Beaver Area School District Education Foundation, which funded the iPad and filming equipment for the project. Selepec plans to continue the project again next year.
