Bellefonte hosts annual Girls Wanna Run 5K

The Girls Wanna Run 5K was held Oct. 27. It’s an annual race held the last weekend of October at Governors Park as the finale to a seven-week long program for girls in fourth through eighth grades. Marion-Walker Elementary School third-grade teacher Jen Carroll said the free program through the district has a mission to encourage good exercise habits, positive self esteem, encouragement, and persistence and perseverance, while allowing the students to prepare and train for the 5K. This year’s coaches were teachers Carroll, Erin Cernuska, Eric Cyone, Pam Grimminger and Shelby Hamilton.
