Canuary at Wingate

At Wingate Elementary School, the first month of the year isn’t called January – it’s called Canuary. Why? Because the school holds its annual food drive to benefit the food bank in Milesburg. Last year, students collected 571 pounds of food for the food pantry at Milesburg Presbyterian Church, and Nancy Bostian, coordinator of the Milesburg food pantry said the “gift (was) greatly appreciated.” This year, members of Girl Scout troop No. 41512 volunteered time to pack and help deliver donations. The community service project was also led by adult volunteers Angela Basalla, Jen Hoovler and Ann Van Cise.
