Mary Moore attended the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC) during the 2015-16 school year as a non-traditional student. Moore was enrolled in the welding program and also participated in the SkillsUSA district VII competition where she took first place in the adult welding sculpture category.

During her time at CCCTC, Moore said that taking the welding program helped her by forcing her to step out of her comfort zone and try new things that she didn’t think she was capable of. She said that this gave her confidence and helped her expand her job skills.

The experience, confidence and hands-on training that Moore gained by attending the welding program helped her obtain her current position with Rescar Companies in Dubois, PA. She is a railcar mechanic for a privately held company that does maintenance on rolling stock.
