The annual Physics Boat Regatta is a fun way for Clearfield Area students to test their science mastery. Held at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School Natatorium, the regatta features competitions using boats student teams built with approved materials. Teams answered questions about the process of building and then competed in a variety of events designed to test the structural quality of their boats. The most recent regatta featured an event that required participants to catch “fish” of different sizes using poles from their boats and another called Dodgeball Battleship, in which opposing teams tried to “sink” each other’s boats by knocking off targets. For more on this fun and educational event, see the article in the school’s newspaper, The Stampede.
