The Plymouth Whitemarsh Mock Trial Club recently hosted the inaugural summer camp for students entering grades 6-9. At the camp, members of the high school club taught campers about the law by having them serve as lawyers and witnesses in simulated court cases. Each day, the camp also featured a local attorney who shared stories of their experiences, tips for future attorneys and information about the legal system. “I was extremely impressed by the interest shown by all the kids. They asked intelligent questions,” said Rob MacMahon Esq., a local defense litigation attorney. While the camp specifically focused on mock trials, the kids learned skills that extend beyond the legal field, such as public speaking, observation and improvisation.
