Colonial’s ESL program enjoys second annual Multicultural Dinner

Colonial School District  |  Posted on

ESL students from all grade levels, along with their families, ESL and World Language teachers, and students in the French, Latin and Spanish clubs all came together to celebrate the end of the school year with the second annual Multicultural Dinner in the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School cafeteria. Within the district more than 20 languages are spoken by children ranging in ages 6-18. Attendees got to know each other better through games while they enjoyed a dinner catered by the district and supplemented with dishes students brought that reflected their heritage. The ESL program serves more than 90 families and uses the “Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol” model that allows English Language Learners keep current with peers while learning how to read, write and hear English.
