Plymouth Whitemarsh High School orchestra premieres work on PWHS ’14 Alum

Tom Krumm is a recent graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

The Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Orchestra debuted a work by PWHS 2014 graduate Tom Krumm at their spring concert on Thursday, April 26. The piece, titled Slippery Slope, was originally written by Jay Unger, a famous fiddle player who owns the Ashokan Fiddle and Dance Camps in Saugerties, NY. Krumm arranged the piece for string orchestra in 2017.

“It’s an honor to have the Plymouth Whitemarsh orchestra perform my arrangement,” said Krumm. “I’m astounded by the work they’ve put in and incredibly proud to have my arrangement premiered by my alma mater.”

This is the second time the orchestra premiered an arrangement by Krumm. The first was also a Jay Unger piece that Krumm arranged as a senior at PWHS. Since then, he has earned his bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and has returned to the Philadelphia area to teach and perform.
