Colonial Middle School’s Gentleman’s Club collected 900+ pairs of gloves

Members of the Colonial Middle School (CMS) Gentleman’s Club recently met with representatives of the Laurel House, one of the recipients of the club’s recent drive to collect gloves for those in need.

“I was thinking it was getting colder outside and sometimes gloves could be expensive,” said Aaron Walski who suggested the idea to collect gloves for the group’s first community service project. “I thought we could help people get nice gloves for the winter.”

The students collected over 930 pairs of gloves, 530 of which were donated to the Laurel House.

“I was very surprised we got that many gloves,” said Shane Rentschler. “I am very happy that we are able to help people this way.”

The Gentleman’s Club, headed by CMS Teacher Michele Stingle, is a new group at the middle school comprised of eighth grade boys whose goal is to leave a lasting and positive impression on the school and community at large.

“We’re trying to help our community outside of school,” said Taeshaun Johnson. “It is the respectful thing to do.”

In addition to the Laurel House, club members donated gloves to the Conshohocken Well. The Gentleman’s Club goal is to do three community service projects each school year.
