Students at Conneaut have a new way to take to the skies. The district recently approved the implementation of the “You Can Fly” program from the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), for students in high school. According to an article in the Meadville Tribune, the four-year program prepares students to take the drone certification test or enter flight school to obtain a pilot’s license. Participants learn science and mathematics through training in geometry, trigonometry, physics, engineering and model-building. The program is free, but teachers must be trained on how to oversee the courses. The first year of the program was approved by the board as a science credit.
