Conrad Weiser Middle School will be defending their 2016 title of top collector in the Trex Bag Recycling Challenge this year. The competition requires schools to collect clean, dry plastic film such as shopping bags and weigh the material, then submit it to local grocery stores that recycle the material. Trex donates a composite bench to any school or community that collects at least 500 pounds. The Future Farmers of America club is leading the challenge at the middle school and is responsible for collecting the material from around the community. Last year, the school collected 6, 521 pounds of plastic, making it the top recycler. This year’s goal is 7,000 pounds.
