Elementary students in Curwensville Area SD enjoyed some extra reading encouragement in March. During Read Across America Week, students from the high school came to the elementary to read books to the students and share their love of reading. Curwensville Elementary celebrated the occasion with reading incentives. “Mystery readers” were featured during the morning announcements, and students who correctly guessed the reader were entered in a drawing for a free book. Incentives such as drawings for event tickets or gift cards were offered to entice students to read outside of class. The school also observed a Drop Everything and Read time each day. Thanks to donations from the parent-teacher organization and a local business, each student in K-grade 6 also received two free books.
