New facility creates another path to wellness

Students and staff at Elizabeth Forward have an easier way to reach their wellness goals. The high school has just installed a new fitness center funded in part by a grant from the Highmark Foundation. According to an article in the Mon Valley Independent, health and physical education teacher Dave Byers secured the funding for the center, which he considers a learning lab for students. The facility will be used for teaching physical education classes during the school day as well as for general fitness before and after school. It features 12 cardio machines, 10 strength-training stations and Expresso exercise bikes. Art students have already adorned the space with motivational murals.
