Bird research comes to life for Fairview students

Fairview School District  |  Posted on

Students at Fairview Elementary School are applying research they learned about birds in a whole new way. Fourth-grade students researched birds, their habitats and the food they eat and then painted plastic molds of the birds, supplied by a local injection molding company. They created birdhouses assembled from the paper on which they wrote their research.  The students were able to take the creations home with them at the end of the school year and the school will be able to reuse the plastic bird molds indefinitely to repeat the project with new students each year. The STEM activity was funded by a grant from the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority, which also funded other hands-on STEM experiences in the district.
