Family communication the focus of new seven-week program

Adolescence can be a challenging time for students and parents, but West Perry SD is creating an opportunity for families to be proactive about staying connected. The new Strengthening Families Program is a seven-week initiative that brings sixth-graders and their parents to the West Perry Middle School once a week for dinner and programming on communication and problem-solving skills. The goal is to increase family bonding and decrease students’ participation in risk behaviors such as substance abuse. The program is free and offers child care for children in fifth-grade and younger.
