The Franklin Five

Thirteen Franklin Middle and High School students attended the Equations Tournament at Slippery Rock University on Feb. 8, 2017.  The Equations game was invented by Yale Professor Layman Allen around 1960 and involves math equations and 24 cubes. Each cube contains four digits and two operation signs. A numerical goal is set and players must form a solution equal to the goal from the 24 cubes rolled.

The Franklin Five competed in the senior division and captured first place overall. The senior division team consisted of Sam Burchfield, Maddy Bush, Trevor Wood, Adam Taylor, and Kiaran Rios. Wood and his younger brother Tyler were also awarded certificates recognizing their undefeated status for the day. The Franklin senior division teams have captured first place in three of the four tournaments they have competed in this year.
