Students launch STEM learning at General McLane regatta

James W. Parker sixth-grade students launched a Sailboat Regatta project in which students assessed their knowledge of perimeter, area and angles by designing and engineering their own sail boats with a K’Nex base and wheels. Students also discover clean, green alternatives to gas-powered vehicles. Students tested their sail boats on the tennis courts with a few simple races. The STEM-based math project also included an introduction to sailing concepts.
