Father/Child Night builds community in Greater Johnstown SD

East Side Elementary School’s Family Engagement Team holds monthly events focusing on engaging families with their children in the school setting after school hours. One recent event called East Side Father/Child Night brought parents and children together for a hot dog dinner and fun activities such as bubble ball soccer, casting fishing poles, toolbox construction, an obstacle course, inspirational videos and a guest speaker. The purpose of the event was to emphasize that fathers are an important part of their children’s education. More than 400 people –  fathers, grandfathers, uncles and brothers – attended.
