Hempfield student fine metals artwork selected for international exhibition

Students in Mrs. Amy Edwards’ Fine Metals II class at Hempfield High School recently had their original works accepted into a show at the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia, PA. At the beginning of the semester, students answered a call for artists for the museum’s upcoming show, The Art of Time. Students individually designed and created a piece inspired by a work from the museum’s collection. In addition, they took part in the application process which included writing a resume, completing an application, having their work photographed and meeting a deadline. Students showing artwork include Alexis Young, Colin Hugney, Katie Graybill, Jared Shiner, Bryanna Wingett, Ana Strasbaugh and Laura Miller. Edwards’ said, “This advanced group of students more than impressed me with the level of craftsmanship and concept in their work, and I am pleased beyond words that it has been recognized in this way.” The opening reception was held at the museum in May and the exhibit will run through January 2018.
