School donates more than 5,500 pounds of food

Hempfield School District donated a grand total of 5,587 pounds of food to the Hempfield Area Food Pantry as a result of its district-wide collection during the month of February. The ninth annual district-wide food drive was presented by J.K. Mechanical and supported by Market Street Sports Group.

On Friday, March 1, 2019 representatives from J.K. Mechanical and Market Street Sports Group visited each school location to pick up food that was donated by students, parents, guardians, staff and community members. Those donations were loaded into J.K. Mechanical vans by Hempfield School District students and J.K. Mechanical team members, and then transported to the food pantry.
