An overview of the Future Planning Fair at Hempfield High School.

On Thursday, April 19, the Hempfield High School School Counseling Department held the 2nd Annual Future Planning Fair. Every junior student had the opportunity to interact with nearly 60 colleges (two-year and four-year), trade and specialty schools, military and workforce opportunities. Students were also able to learn about opportunities for financial aid, and there was even a group present for students to explore the option of taking a “gap year.” Students walked away with bags, provided by the Pennsylvania National Guard, filled with information and worksheets that outlined the next steps for students to take to further explore their options. Lunch was hosted for the representatives with cupcakes baked by Transition Beyond the Classroom students. Events such as this one provide an opportunity for all students to be exposed to the many possibilities of post-secondary schools and careers.
