Career Day exposes students to new jobs

If you ask some Howard Elementary School students what they want to be when they grow up, they’re answers are “chef,” “police officer,” “fireman,” “doctor,” “nurse,” “truck driver,” “park ranger” and more.

On April 5, the school hosted a career day to expose students to different jobs. Stations were held by parents and community members in different careers, including a paralegal, social worker, sheriff’s deputy, chef, bear biologist, construction worker and photographer. Students even dressed up for the day looking like doctors, construction workers, police officers, cooks and more.

Principal Skip Pighetti said older students in third-, fourth- and fifth-grades worked with teacher Amber Buchanan on a reflection time to discuss what careers they’re most interested in and what they learned during Career Day.
