Howard Elementary School was the winner of this year’s BEA Reading Super Bowl edging out Mountaintop Area that claimed the title last year. The event, in its 12th year, is a friendly reading competition among the four elementary schools in the Bald Eagle Area School District. Students from Howard read 5,136,160 words during the competition, Principal Skip Pighetti said. To celebrate the win, students attended a trophy presentation ceremony, participated in the Howard Olympics and had the chance to slime the principal using a homemade concoction from flower and water and green dye.
