Humane League Fundraiser at Salisbury Elementary

During the Fall and Winter, a group of fourth grade learners participated in a student group called Girls with Ideas. Under the supervision of School Counselor Chris Laudo, the group was facilitated by School Psychologist Intern Beth Wagner and School Counselor Intern Alexa Mohler. The Girls With Ideas curriculum helps girls discover their strengths, find their voice, and build resilience so they can be confident, creative leaders who have the skills to make ideas happen. The curriculum takes girls through the process of coming up with an idea and making it happen. For their culminating activity, the fourth grade learners decided to do a fundraiser to benefit the Humane League. The girls came up with the idea to sell what they called, “Cocoa Care Packs” that contained hot chocolate mix in a packet as well as marshmallows. The learners created flyers to build awareness of the fundraiser and they put together the Cocoa Care Packs themselves. Their initiative resulted in raising $100 which went to the Humane League of Lancaster County.
