Students participate in the career fair.

On Wednesday, April 25, the 6th grade students at Mountville Elementary School were afforded the opportunity to participate in a Career Fair Program provided by the North Museum. Students learned about science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) careers. Local employers talked to small groups of students for 10-minute sessions explaining how they use science and/or technology in their everyday work life. MES students were able to see architectural maps used for the landscape of their very own school! They saw a simulation of a tornado. They physically touched magnetic poles. They saw what the lenses of our eyes look like. They formed a hypothesis about the densities of four different liquids. They saw medical tools and heard the language that telecommunicators use, called codes. They discovered that if they save one nickel per week for 172 years, with compounding interest, they would have saved over 1 million dollars! Lastly, the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center had them think about what their current life work is.
