Mr. Vensel encourages special ed student to play an instrument.

Middletown Area High School Music Teacher Andrew Vensel has been selected as a co-presenter at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Annual In-Service Conference. Vensel will share how he teaches music to high school students with special needs. In cooperation with MAHS Life Skills Support Teacher Deanna Morder, Vensel developed music curriculum to meet the needs of special learners. Students are given the opportunity to play musical instruments and are taught basic keyboarding. Mr. Vensel introduces various styles of music and rhythms by having students practice dance moves. The success of the curriculum has gone beyond expectations. Students look forward to music class with anticipation and continue to show amazing participation and progress.
