Student coordinated effort to refresh outdoor learning spaceMoon Area Middle School student and member of the Boy Scouts, Hayden Brown, coordinated an effort to revive a former outdoor learning space on the secondary campus this April. Middle school science teacher, Monica Zajicek, originally created the trail in the 2000-01 school year with the help of the Yellow Jackets team, Baker Corporation, parents, and Boy Scouts. But with the construction of the new high school, much of the former outdoor classroom was lost. In the fall of 2017, Moon Area SD maintenance staff helped to re-establish the outdoor classroom by clearing the area. Brown took on the task of building and placing benches in the future outdoor classroom as part of his Eagle Scout project. Along with other members of Troop 198, the benches were built and installed behind the high school.
