Donna Mower receives Educator of the Year award

North Penn School District is proud to announce that Donna Mower, secondary gifted education teacher at Penndale and Pennfield middle schools, has been named 2016 Outstanding Educator of the Year by the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education (PAGE). In 2015, PAGE began an annual tradition to honor deserving individuals making an impact in gifted education with an award. Annual PAGE awards are given to three distinguished individuals who excel in the categories of Education, Innovation and Parenting. NPSD’s own Donna Mower was selected as PAGE’s 2016 Outstanding Educator. Mower is a North Penn alumnae and graduate of Millersville University. Her career started in 1984 as a learning support teacher at North Penn and she has been teaching gifted students since 1996. Currently a middle school gifted support teacher at Penndale and Pennfield, Donna is also the department chair of the secondary gifted program. Donna advises the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and Academic Competition. She serves as a teacher representative on the North Penn Association for Gifted Education (NPAGE), the course advancement committee and the gifted task force. All of the PAGE award recipients were honored at the Second Annual PAGE Fall Conference on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 in Harrisburg.
