North Penn High School presented “Next Steps,” an innovative event focused on college and career planning for students and families. Partnering with the its alumni association, community members and local businesses, the school revamped the annual event to take a closer look at a variety of options students may take after high school. The goal was to give students the opportunity to speak with alumni and community members from fields of interests about what a career entails and how these professionals got where they are today. From there, students were able to work with college representatives about the right steps needed to reach a desired career. Coordinated by Dr. Nicole Yetter, guidance department chair; Patrick Brett, college and career counselor; Pete Nicholson, assistant principal; and Kaity Andrey, alumni association coordinator, “Next Steps” featured representatives from more than 70 colleges and universities as well as over 30 alumni and community members from nearly 25 different career fields.
