Sharing the love of reading

Once a month, our fifth-grade students head down to the pre-K classroom to share their love of reading with our youngest students. The fifth-grade students pick a book that is at a preschool reading level. They are then paired with a preschool student and they read to them. It is a great opportunity for the students to use their communication skills and to share the joy of reading with a younger group of students. It gives the preschool students a chance to get to know the older students in the building. The fifth-grade students really look forward to reading to their younger reading buddies each month!
