Panther Packs ease weekend hunger

Bloomsburg Area School District is taking action to decrease food insecurity among students. Through the Panther Pack Program, the district is partnering with the local food pantry to collect and distribute food to eligible students. Student, community and parent volunteers fill bags with non-perishable, easy-to-prepare meals and snacks and distribute them to needy students, free of charge, in advance of the weekend when they do not have access to the school breakfast/lunch program. Although the program currently serves K-2 students, the district’s goal is to implement it in all its schools.
