Penn Manor has started a new Literacy Outreach that brings free books to children in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods to foster reading over the summer months. The school district partners with Lancaster County Library, which brings its bookmobile to the neighborhoods, and the Community Action Partnership, which provides information on social services available to families. As an added incentive, children who take a book or two can get a free treat from an ice cream truck.
