During a final unit of Pequea Valley’s Animal Science class they talked about technologies in animal reproduction. In order to demonstrate a few of these technologies and allow students to get a hands on approach to these methods, PV teacher Jasmine VanSant invited Carli Carolei from Select Sires to demonstrate artificial insemination. Carli brought in cow reproductive tracks and allowed the students to practice artificially inseminating the uterus of a cow. She also shared about the technologies of Sexed Semen and how these technologies are significantly increasing the production rates of animal agriculture. In addition, she shared with students a diverse range of careers that can be obtained in this field and shared many of her own experiences.
