Manufacturing Week at Pequea Valley

For a full week in October this school year, Pequea Valley Intermediate School celebrated national Manufacturing Week to create awareness of the manufacturing impact in the community. Another goal for the week’s worth of activities was to expose  learners to careers in manufacturing in effort to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. For the week’s kickoff day, students participated in a school-wide manufacturing event in which they created mini corn-hole games, which were later donated to Toys for Tots. Through the experience they were able to get a hands-on experience in the many aspects of manufacturing. Students also had the opportunity to tour the Case New Holland facility, where they listened to a robotics engineer explaining his job of ensuring the robot arm is understanding the blue print plan he is asking it to read and execute. Students also were able to participate in a welding simulation.
