Reading School District wins national equity award

The Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium Inc. (MAEC), an educational nonprofit organization, has recognized Reading School District for its efforts in working to achieve educational equity and social justice. The district, under the leadership of Superintendent Khalid Mumin Ed.D, received the Courageous Institution Award from MAEC in December 2017. The award recognizes an institution/organization that has made an impact in galvanizing national, state and local actions for promoting education equity for all students so that they can become successful citizens. Reading School District and Equity Director Waldo Alvarado, M.S.Ed. were also recognized for their commendable effort in fostering optimism in educators and other stakeholders, working together to ensure academic success for students of all backgrounds.
