EHP students successful in CTSO organizations

Four students of the Emerging Health Professionals program at Schuylkill Technology Center attended the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Lancaster in March. HOSA is an international student organization that provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs. This is the first year for both the Emerging Health Care Program as well as their HOSA chapter. Participants were Courtney Earnest of Blue Mountain High School, Marguerite Ortiz of Pottsville Area High School and Kortney Heim and Bailey Romberger, both of Tri-Valley High School. Earnest placed fourth in Medical Math. Ortiz served as voting delegate for the chapter, attending all business meetings and voting for state officers. Heim placed fourth in Job Seeking Skills, having previously placed first in FBLA Health Care Administration and will be competing in State FBLA competition in April. In addition, she placed first in District 6 SkillsUSA Job Interview and will be attending state SkillsUSA competition in April in Hershey. Romberger earned a gold medal in Researched Persuasive Writing & Speaking, and is eligible to compete at International Leadership Conference in June in Orlando.
