Students recycle 1,900 markers

Citizens across the community of Derry Township School District collected old markers to recycle through the Crayola ColorCycle Project.  The project is an effort to recycle and reuse the thousands of colorful but dried-out markers across the United States and Canada.

In math class, the second-grade students counted out a grand total of 1,900 markers by sorting them into 19 groups of 100. Then, the third- graders took off all the caps to be used as colorful tools for kindergartners to learn math. The leftover markers were sent to Crayola to be recycled, and all the students are now more knowledgeable about being responsible for plastic waste.
