Thomas Jefferson High School club raises funds for disaster-relief organization

The Thomas Jefferson High School Interact Club members presented a $1,000 check to ShelterBox, an international, disaster-relief organization that provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to support communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster and humanitarian crisis. TJ high school students raised $1,000 for ShelterBox by filling up water bottles with dimes ($100 in each bottle) and sponsoring faculty dress-down days. The TJHS Interact Club is sponsored by the Pleasant Hills Rotary Club, whose members also contributed to this worthy cause. A special check presentation ceremony was held in the high school auditorium in May, attended by students, members of the Pleasant Hills Rotary Club and ShelterBox representatives Tom and Marie Grant. The Grants presented the Interact Club with a donor pennant and spoke about their organization and mission. During the assembly, students also had the opportunity to see an actual ShelterBox and its supplies.
