The Thomas Jefferson High School Public Relations class launched the District’s first Senior Community Outreach Program by hosting a Holiday Appreciation Brunch for their senior community members on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. The event was designed for laying the foundation of a strong community relations program that connects the senior community members with students and schools.

There were over 80 seniors in attendance who had the opportunity to mingle with the PR Students seated at each table and enjoy a delicious brunch courtesy of our Food Service Director, Mr. John Rambo, and Metz Culinary Cuisine. Casey and Mara Lako provided wonderful instrumental music during brunch then Mrs. Julie Lucci and the TJ A Cappella Choir treated guests to beautiful performances of “Merry Christmas, Darling” & “O Holy Night.” The high school students organized a special Kahoot “Decades Trivia” game to play with the seniors to see which table could earn the most points to take home a beautiful poinsettia. At the end of the program, seniors were asked to complete a short survey to gather their input as we strive to provide future programs and activities to better meet their needs. Students created personalized thank you notes and goodie bags for all of the guests as tokens of their appreciation and to put everyone in the holiday spirit.

District Administrators extend a special thank you to Mrs. Kaszonyi and her Public Relations class for all of their planning and hard work, and to all the community members for their continued support. The event was a huge success, and the district looks forward to offering more opportunities for senior community members!
