Thomas Jefferson High School students evaluate flexible seating

New, collaborative furniture was purchased and placed in six classrooms at Thomas Jefferson High School over the Thanksgiving break. Student and teacher feedback will be gathered to provide input into the furniture design and ordering for the new high school set to open in the 2018-19 school year. Principal Sefcheck secured a research-based grant for one of the classroom’s collaborative furnishings from KI Furniture which is valued at $30,000. Thomas Jefferson High School is one of only 3 high schools in the state to receive the grant. Our students will take part in a survey to assess how this type of furniture will impact their education and learning. The intent is to rethink the way our facilities and classroom spaces affect student behavior and learning and how they might be leveraged to promote our core values. All of the furniture at the new high school will be designed to facilitate a learner-centric environment with flexible, collaborative seating intended to foster positive learning.
