United Junior/Senior High School has been honored with the SupportMusic Merit Award from the NAMM Foundation for outstanding commitment to music education. The school is one of only nine in Pennsylvania that received this award, which applauds schools’ efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

United has been recognized as a leader in providing learning opportunities as outlined in the new Every Student Succeeds Act, which recommends that music and the arts are important elements of a well-rounded education for all children.

“With the guidance of Mrs. Acey Gongaware and Mr. Zachery Karcher, our outstanding music educators, United students benefit through the importance of music education in their lives and touch the lives of others,” said United School District Superintendent Dr. Barbara Parkins. “This NAMM designation demonstrates the necessity of music education in our schools. We are proud of the efforts of all of the adults who support music for our students within the United School District.”
