Pequea Valley holds Veteran’s Day Celebration
On November 11, 2019, Pequea Valley Intermediate School hosted a Veteran’s Day program to honor the men and women who have served to preserve our freedom.
Through various activities, the school shared with students the importance of the day and what it means for our country. Some of these activities included a welcome luncheon for participating veterans.
Veterans from the community along with some family members and host students came together for a lunch in the school’s media center. They held an all-school assembly were their guests of honor were recognized and enjoyed some music pieces performed by the Brave Sounds ensemble and PVIS concert band. Veterans shared their stories with students and many veterans brought in items to share.
In addition to the festivities, the students watched a brief video on Veteran’s Day, wrote “dog tag” thank you cards to veterans, and had the opportunity to see restored WWII military vehicles in person.
PVIS’s goal, with the help of the community members, is for the students to learn about the contributions and sacrifices America’s veterans have made throughout the years to enjoy the many freedoms we have today.
