Jefferson Elementary introduces embryology unit pilot program for third-graders

Ms. Donna Zang, third-grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary, is engaging her students in a four-week long embryology project to serve as an enrichment program to the third-grade science curriculum. The third-graders are learning all about the lifecycle of the chicken. Using an incubator rented through Penn State Cooperative Extension, students care for their chicken eggs and participate in the incubation process. Each day, they monitor the embryos growing inside the eggs until the date the eggs hatch.
