Windber Area students are developing technology skills while spreading messages of kindness through some new student-created videos. Fourth-grade teacher Angela Rager’s class worked with Cory Pavlosky, an elementary teacher and the Windber Area Elementary School News adviser, to make an award-winning anti-bullying video. The 60-second video features a superhero theme with students dressed in costumes, and was shared on the district’s social media accounts. See the video on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTc4PKRIpAI. For their efforts, the class was honored with a second-place award in a contest held by the nationally recognized Olweus Bully Prevention Program. The school will receive a $250 gift card for supplies and a set of 10 teachers resource books from Olweus as a reward. In addition, students at Windber Area middle and high schools have produced a four-minute video to promote kindness. The creation features students and teachers performing small acts of kindness.
