West Jefferson Hills team earns third-place honors at FPS International Competition

The Pleasant Hills Middle School Junior Division Future Problem Solving Team captured third-place honors at the 2018 FPS International Conference, in the World of Global Issues Problem Solving, held at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in June 2018. Laney Auman, Morgan Dixon, Eliza Fisher, and McKenna Haggerty represented the sixth-grade team and were challenged to apply their global problem-solving knowledge to address the criminal justice system in a future scene set in the town of Georgetown. Students had to research the topic to gather background information on the imagined scenario based on the topic 20 to 40 years in the future, become mini-experts and predict future outcomes. This team represented the state of Pennsylvania and competed against more than 60 teams from around the world, including Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong, to take third-place honors.
