Center Avenue Elementary students got a creative lesson on the justice system and history during a tour of the Butler County Courthouse in May. The students reviewed facts about the history of the courthouse as they walked around the building and learned all about the people who work in the court system. They met with a judge and had the chance to ask her questions as well as get their photo taken on her stand. The students also enjoyed watching a court reporter type out his notes and even sealed their own records in the prothonotary’s office. In addition, the students got to meet K-9 officer Bullet and watched him do his job searching for a certain scent. The tour ended with trip to the holding cell and the vehicle used to transfer prisoners.
