Cambria Heights rises to the creativity challenge

Twelve Cambria Heights High School students participated in Carnegie Mellon University’s Computer Science Creativity Challenge for high school students, held at Carnegie Science Center in April 2018. Three students — freshmen Ian Eckenrode  and Miranda Weiland and sophomore Charles Legrand — came away with the first-place award and $50 gift cards for their stellar performance. Competitors were given three hours to visit eleven stations throughout the science center and solve problems based on math, computers, logic and music. According to an article on the district’s website, the average score from the event was 74. Cambria Heights’ first-place team scored 109 points, just shy of a possible total of 111.
