Student-run business teaches valuable skills
Central York School District | Posted on
Students at Central York Middle School are learning valuable skills while running their own business. Central Relaxation sells bath fizzies, lip balm and body butters, all manufactured by the students during the school’s flex period and with the help of Michelle Hopkins, the school’s family science teacher. The 16 boys and girls involved in the process learn about profit margins, marketing and entrepreneurship while they fill orders. They sell their products online and at special events such as local craft fairs and all profits are donated to nonprofits like the York County SPCA and Kids Helping Kids.
