Susquenita High School has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished Program for 2015-17 for its implementation of the 1:1 iPad Initiative. According to the district’s press release, award winners must meet criteria for innovation, leadership and educational excellence and demonstrate a clear vision of exemplary learning environments. As part of the district’s initiative, every student receives an iPad in eighth-grade and is trained on how to use it in preparation for the start of high school. Teachers are also trained in how to use the tablets effectively as learning tools. During school hours, students use their iPads to exchange assignments and use Apple TV to share information during collaborative projects, and teachers also use MacBooks to develop and present their own materials.
